You never know when it will be your last day.

So My wife and I were sitting at Dotty's the other day doing a little of gambling. When I get done before her I usually go and sit in an area that they have in the corner by a window to wait for her until she is done. Not this time, I was still gambling when all of a sudden we all hear a loud crash! A car came crashing through the window in through Dotty's. Luckily no one was hurt, but there was glass everywhere and the car was sitting in the place smelling like gas. They crazy part is that I would usually have been sitting in the area where the car came through!

Final result of shopping for a car.

Well the shopping for a car has finally ended thank god! I am pleased with what we ended up buying. This is what we bought and the good thing is I don't have a car note attached to it. I hope it last's me for a while because I don't want to do this shopping for a car all over again.

Shopping for a car is harder than I thought.

I have been shopping for a car these last two weeks and seems like its harder than I thought. I am looking at buying a slightly used car because I do not want a car note at the moment. Every used car I have looked at though has high mileage. They say its because people now use cars for Uber, lyft or Uber eats and put a lot more miles to them. I hope I get lucky and find me something soon!

A trip to Arizona

I just got back from from attending a funeral in surprise, Arizona  yesterday and the trip back seemed long.It seems to be the new norm for me going to funerals. I have lost 6 people I know friends and family within  the last two years. That really sucks I am hoping I don't have to attend another funeral for a long time. Makes me feel like I am getting old and time is running out. I have to enjoy life more while I still can.

Looking at the clock

Okay so I am here sitting waiting to take the MOS Excel test. I don't know why but as far as I can remember I have never been good at taking test. Maybe its the way I prepare myself or the way I study. Anyhow I have to pass this exam I have come too far to fail now! I feel pretty confident today but somehow or another it feels like I get thrown a curve ball and end up totally messing up the test. Well I hope I look at this post after the exam and say  "I passed".

Something Really Weird Happened April 5th 2021.

So I went to my appointment April 5th to get vaccinated with the covid-19 shot. I walked in to CVS and there was a large group of people with appointments also waiting to get theirs. As I advanced in the line closer and closer to the nurse, I began to get butterflies in my stomach not knowing what was to be expected. I finally reached the end of the line and it was my turn for the shot. I was asked what arm I wanted the shot to be administered in so I told them the left since I have delayed feeling in it due to stroke. As she poked me I jumped up late after it was already out of my arm. She laughed and so did I. She told me I needed to sit down and wait an additional 15 minutes to make sure I did not have any reactions to the antibodies. As I sat and waited to the left I could see tooth paste colors through my peripheral vision. Due to the stroke I had lost most of my peripheral vision, and now here I was able to see out of it again! I know it sounds crazy but it is true. I cant explain why or how but all I know is that I can see better now again. Of course not 100 percent as I did before stroke but way better than I did before vaccine.

when is it too late to start all over?

I have been thinking a lot lately that the older I get it is harder to take a change of career paths. I mean when you are young it is so easy to fall and get back up dust your knees off and start all over again. I am not so sure it is the same feeling when you get my age. I am not a quitter by any means but I am human to have doubts. With that being said i only have one choice, up!

The Younger Generation

Last weeks topic for our podcast was based on our younger generation the "Millennials". We spoke about the gap between them and "Generation X" . How their way of thinking is so different from ours when we were growing up. Most Millennials are so dependent on social media to communicate their thoughts or even the mood they are in. When us the "Generation X" were growing up we didn't have the internet to communicate like they do now. For example when we had an issue with someone we handled it old school and went in person. Now you can shout everything you want to someone without even looking at them lol.

Amargosa Valley

I wanted to share a little about a small valley where I grew the younger years of my life. The valley is called Amargosa Valley, with a population of about 1500. Growing up there was a totally different life than that of a city. Seems to me that in a city you tend to grow faster, at least in my opinion. I feel like maybe because a city has more things to do and more temptations. Amargosa Valley is surrounded by desert and farms throughout the valley. It borders the state lines of California and Nevada and is very close to one of the hottest places on earth, Death Valley. I grew up there until I was 12yrs old and went the majority of my elementary and some of my junior high school. Here are some pictures of Amargosa Valley.

IS101 Excel

I have  reached the Excel projects section in IS101 class and they seem to be a bit challenging to me. The first few projects seemed to go well but as the projects progress the formulas are getting a bit confusing to me. I am having to go over and over on the lessons and looking up tutorials to get a better understanding where I am going wrong. I got this! I will figure it out slowly but surely. I have to  repeatedly do the steps in order to get the hang of it. Looking forward to get better at Excel and pass the next certification.

My Designs

In 2012 I decided to pursue a degree in Graphic Design at College of Southern Nevada. I received my degree in Graphic Communications not to much longer after that. I have always been into art since I was a kid. My father drew portraits on his free time and I would sit and watch. I took some art classes in high school and college. I used to draw a lot when I was a kid but now that I am older I can't seem to find enough time to dabble a little. Here is one of my logos I have created for businesses.

Hosting Project 150

So I was blown back on what I learned this Thursday on the Kickback 702 podcast that I co- host. We had  special guest Veronica Marquez , Director of Donor Relations with Project 150. Project 150 helps the homeless teens that struggle with life and let alone trying to go to school. It is astounding how many teens are homeless in the Las Vegas area. Project 150 helps these teens with scholarships, clothing, food and help them find jobs. They have a boutique that teens can go shopping at no cost, for shoes, under garments and other items. They help teens with Prom dresses or suits. This is amazing to me I love seeing people come out and help people in need especially kids.

Raider Nation 4 Life

I want to talk a little about my favorite NFL football team, the Las Vegas Raiders! My wife and I are hardcore Raider fans. We faithfully go watch every game with our booster club members at a bar named Legends. Right now, Legends is under renovation, so we have been going to another Raider bar named Chanclas. I am patiently waiting for the Raider stadium to open here in Las Vegas to go watch a game there.  Some unique features the stadium has is, it does not accept paper currency. All transactions are done through a prepaid card that you can load your money on to it there. What I really love is that you can download an app that has options on it like, “Beer Me” which is that at a click of a button you can have someone come deliver a beer to your seat without you having to get up. The stadium has a real turf retractable field that can move in and out of the stadium after each game. It takes about an hour to fully move in and out of stadium.

Repair Cafes

I was reading this article the other day about how the French capital is hosting a dozen of those so-called “repair cafes”. You can bring in any broken electronic device such as a broken phone and a professional volunteer of the electronic field will help you repair them. I thought this was very neat and I think the United States should consider trying them here.
